On the 2nd of June, 2024, Year 9 students from Light International School Mombasa made a heartfelt contribution to Maweni Primary School through a special service learning project. The students volunteered their time and creativity to donate beautifully framed wall art pieces, each adorned with motivational phrases designed to uplift and inspire the Maweni community, especially the students.
This initiative was a wonderful example of community service in action, showcasing the values of empathy, generosity, and artistic expression. The artwork featured a variety of motivational quotes and vibrant designs, carefully selected to resonate with the students and staff of Maweni Primary School. These pieces were not just decorations; they were symbols of encouragement and positivity, aimed at fostering a supportive and inspiring learning environment.
The benefits of this donation extend beyond the aesthetic enhancement of the school environment. Art has the power to influence emotions and mindsets. By filling the walls of Maweni Primary School with positive messages, the Year 9 students hoped to boost the morale and motivation of their peers. These art pieces serve as daily reminders of the importance of perseverance, optimism, and self-belief.
This project also provided the students of Light International School Mombasa with valuable lessons in service learning. It offered them a chance to engage with the community and understand the impact of their actions on others. By contributing to Maweni Primary School, the students developed a sense of responsibility and a deeper appreciation for the importance of giving back.
The framed art donation was a testament to the creativity and compassion of our students. It demonstrated how art can be a powerful medium for expressing kindness and spreading positive energy. The smiles and gratitude from the Maweni Primary School community were the greatest rewards, affirming the success of this meaningful project.
At Light International School Mombasa, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically competent but also socially responsible. Through projects like this, we aim to instill a lifelong love for service and a commitment to making a difference in the world.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 9 students for their generosity and artistic talents. As they continue their journey, we hope they carry forward the spirit of service and continue to use their gifts to bring joy and inspiration to others.
