In the spirit of service and community, Light International School Mombasa recently embarked on a heartwarming mission to spread knowledge and joy. On the 2nd of May, 2024, our school community—comprising parents, students, staff, and friends—came together for a noble cause: donating books to Tumaini School – Shelly. This act of kindness aimed to enrich the school’s library, benefiting its diverse student body, which includes children from a Children’s Home as well as Early Years, Primary, and Secondary School students.
As the saying goes, “A candle loses nothing of its light by lighting another candle.” In this same spirit, our initiative sought to ignite a love for reading and learning among the students at Tumaini School. The donation drive was a resounding success, with contributions ranging from novels and storybooks to journals, magazines, course books, and set books. Each book donated represents a gift of knowledge, a treasure trove of stories, and a gateway to new worlds and ideas.
The book donation to Tumaini School is more than just a charitable act; it is a testament to the values we uphold at Light International School Mombasa. We believe in the power of education to transform lives and the importance of giving back to the community. By sharing our resources, we hope to inspire others to do the same, creating a ripple effect of kindness and generosity.
This event also highlights the importance of service learning, a key component of our school’s ethos. It allows our students to engage with real-world issues and develop a sense of responsibility and empathy. The smiles on the faces of the Tumaini School students as they received the books were priceless, reminding us all of the joy that comes from giving.
As we continue to light up the world around us, we invite you to join us in our journey of spreading knowledge and compassion. Together, we can make a difference, one book at a time.
